Middle School Band

The Triton Central Middle School Bands include Beginning Band, Advanced Band, and Jazz Band. These groups are comprised of students in grades 6-8.

Beginning Band

Students in this group are learning to play their instruments for the first time. Comprised of 6th grade students, this band focuses on learning proper playing technique as well as strategies for reading music.

7th and 8th Grade Bands

These ensembles includes 7th and 8th grade students who are continuing into their second or third year of band. These students begin to study more advanced music and playing techniques.

Jazz Band

This is an optional ensemble for students in grades 7 and 8. Students meet outside of the school day and begin to learn music in jazz and rock styles.
For the 2022-2023 school year, MS Jazz Band meets Tuesdays after school until 4:00 pm.

Extra Credit Performance Opportunities

​Students may earn extra credit by attending professional or collegiate performances outside of school and filling out the Extra Credit form found under "Resources" below. These can include performances by bands, orchestras, choirs, jazz ensembles, percussion ensembles, drum corps, operas, ballets, and more. If you have questions about what performances qualify for extra credit, just ask Mr. Shepherd.
